CenterTelecom looking to raise its share of broadband Internet market in the Central Federal District to 62% by 2010

CenterTelecom, the largest fixed-line operator in the Central Federal District (CFD), intends to raise its share of the broadband Internet market to 62% by the end of 2014, the company’s commercial director and manager of the department of business strategy development Sergey Khanenkov said at a conference on Wednesday.

The company currently commands about 40% of the market, Mr. Khanenkov pointed out.

According to the operator’s estimates, the value of the broadband Internet market in the CFD currently amounts to RUR 16 bln, it should double to RUR 32 bln.  CenterTelecom now has a subscriber base numbering more than 1.19 mln users and this number should rise to more than 2.9 mln in 2014, Khanenkov noted.

In 2009 the operator generated RUR 6.302 bln (up 20% year-on-year) from datacom and Internet access. 

CenterTelecom is part of Svyazinvest, which owns 50.7% of its voting shares (38.02% of its charter capital). 

The company provides local and intrazonal telephony services, datacom, data transmission, intellectual services, Internet access, and also digital television, wire and live broadcasting and line leasing.
