The Board of Directors of Svyazinvest, which was held on February 19, voted unanimously that the holding’s representatives vote for the reorganization of the holding’s subsidiaries in the form of a merger by folding RTOs and Dagsvyazinform into Rostelecom.
Shareholders meetings of Rostelecom, all RTOs and Dagsvyazinform are to be held in the summer of 2010. Head of the Information Department of Svyazinvest, Igor Pshenichnikov pointed out that the board of director’s decision is “an important step on the road to a full-fledged reorganization of the holding”.
In addition, a meeting which took place on February 19 approved the list of appointees for the new board of directors of Svyazinvest. Two appointees are of special interest: telecommunications minister Igor Schegolev and the director general of Svyazinvest Evgeny Yurchenko, since their presence will intensify the struggle for the position of chairman of the board of directors, which so far has been held by presidential advisor Leonid Reiman. The latter was also on the list of appointees. The other nominees to the board of directors of Svyazinvest as top managers of their companies, i.e. Konstantin Malofeev, managing partner of direct investment fund Marshall Capital Partners, president of Comstar-UTS Sergey Pridantsev, member of the board of directors of UBS Bank Marlen Manasov, senior vice president and manager of the proprietary complex of AFK Sistema Sergey Drozdov, managing director of VTB Invest Mikhail Butrin, official secretary and deputy director of the Federal Security Service Yury Kornev, professor of state university Higher School of Economics Ivan Rodionov, and managing director of MDM Bank Nikita Ryauzov.
