Krasnodar, August 25, 2009: Southern Telecommunications Company (UTK) [(RTS: KUBN, KUBNP; ÌICEX: UTEL, UTELP; ADR OTC: STJSY, KUE FRA)], the largest fixed-line operator in the territory of the Southern Federal District of Russia, hereby announces that as of August 25, 2009 the company paid out dividends on the Company’s 2008 financial results for a total of Rub 51,364,697.47.
The decision on the amount of dividends payable (Rub 0.0573 per 1 preferred share) was adopted by the Annual General Shareholders Meeting of UTK on June 26, 2009. The entire amount of accrued profit subject to payment on the company’s preferred shares for 2008 amounts to Rub 55,704,300.32. As a result, the total amount of dividends paid out constitutes more than 92% of the sum payable.
The reason for partial execution of dividend payout obligations was the existence of outdated information on passport data, addresses and banking details for the dividend payments to be made to shareholders. When the Company receives the necessary data from shareholders and nominal dividend holders the payouts will be made in full.
